Upon reaching the age of 65 years, Lansing seniors are eligible for a discounted garbage/refuse rate which is included in your water bill. This discount rate is $36.00 per billing period rather than the regular rate of $54.00 |

Please come to the Clerk's office and fill out the required form, bringing with you a recent tax bill along with your drivers license or state identification card. |

We offer a Senior Vehicle Sticker (one per household) to Seniors reaching the age of 65 years by July 1st. The cost of the Senior sticker for a car is $3.00 and a truck sticker would be $3.00 |

PATTI LEACH YOUTH CENTER |

Free income tax assistance and electronic filing is available at the Patti Leach Youth Center to Senior Citizens and low-income individual through a partnership between the Internal Revenue Service and AARP. |

|
Participants need to bring a copy of last years income statements, property tax receipts and any other receipts for possible deductions. |
|
|
|
|
The free sessions are on Tuesdays & Wednesdays from February 1st thru April 13th at the Patti Leach Youth Center, 18123 Burnham, Ave. 708-418-8050, noon to 3:30 p.m. Doors open at 11:50 a.m. |

There are 344 participants in this program, and most of them are senior citizens. The program was initiated in 2001, and has been extremely successful. |

Citizens Police Academy |
|
|
|
|
The Lansing Police Department offers a ten-week police officer taught program to Lansing residents. The Lansing Citizens Police Academy met on 10 Wednesday evenings from early March, thru May at the Lansing Police Department HQ 2710 -170th St. Lansing, IL. Contact Officer Barnes at 708-895-7140 for more information. These classes offer a unique perspective into the agency and subjects include; police ethics, criminal investigations, criminal law, use of force, gang awareness, drug use, canine demonstrations and a hands-on shooting range class. |

National Night Out |

|

The Lansing Police Department has participated in the national Night Out Against crime for over ten years. This event will be held in August of each year from 6:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. The purpose of the evening is to bond with the citizens and show the Police Department's commitment to being a "crime-free" village. |

| The Lansing Police Department provides free giveaways and food that is donated by Lansing's businesses and service organizations. Residents are encouraged to lock their doors and turn on their porchlights on the night of the event to show our commitment to keeping Lansing crime-free. Blood Pressure Screening - Any person who wishes, may have their blood pressure checked by stopping at any of our fire stations. On several occasions, serious medical conditions have been discovered before they became life threatening. |

|
|
Blood Sugar Monitoring - People who are diabetic may also have their blood sugar checked by stopping at any of our fire station. This has also prevented serious complications for some of our residents in the past. |

BLOOD PRESSURE AND BLOOD SUGAR SCREENING |

On the first Monday of the month (excluding holidays) a nurse from All Care Home Health comes to the Clerk's Office (3141 Ridge Rd. Lansing, Il.) to perform blood pressure and blood sugar screening between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. This service is FREE to all Lansing residents |

LANSING LOAN CLOSET |
|
|
|
|
One of the most utilized services that the Village provides is the "Lansing Loan Closet". We have wheelchairs, walkers and canes.
The items are available to any Lansing resident in need of medical equipment. All items have been donated to the Loan Closet for use by our residents. Borrowers are required to give their name, address, phone number and signature on a release waiver, as all equipment is given out on an "as is" basis. When the item is returned your name is removed form our files. Please call 895-7208 for more information or to borrow an item.
