SMOKE DETECTOR
1. Senior Citizens, handicapped individuals, and anyone who is unable to maintain their own smoke detector in the Village of Lansing shall be eligible for this program.

2. The Lansing Fire Department shall maintain a list of all parties who are participating in this program.
3. The Lansing Fire Department will replace the batteries at NO cost to the individual.
4. The Lasing Fire Department will , to the best of their ability, provide the service once a year.
5. The Lansing Fire Department will NOT provide smoke detectors but will install smoke detectors for any senior citizen, handicapped individual, and anyone who is unable to install their own smoke detector in the Village of Lansing.
6. The Lansing Fire Department will NOT recommend any brand of detector, but will recommend that the detector be listed or approved by U.L., F.M. or other such recognized testing agencies.

7. Smoke, Heat, or CO detectors, which are part of an alarm system, are not part of this program will be referred to the alarm company for testing and maintenance.
8. The Lansing Fire Department will test 110-volt smoke detectors if requested by use of the provided test button. No installation or maintenance of 110 volt detectors will be done with the exception of replacing the backup battery.
9. CO detectors will be tested if requested by use of the provided test button. Batteries will not be provided for CO detectors except if the detector is a combination smoke/CFO detector and requires no unusual batteries.
10. No gift or gratuity will be accepted for any of the above services.

AHA Courses in Basic Life Support

Courses for the general public:
  • CPR FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS::
    A course that teaches skills in CPR and the relief of choking in adults, children and infants.
    Cost of class:
    Lansing Resident - $20.00
    Non-Resident     - $25.00

Courses for lay persons seeking a credential:
  • HEARTSAVER CPR:
    A comprehensive course for Lay Responders resulting in a recognition card. This course teaches skills in CPR and the relief of choking in adults, children and infants.
    Cost of class:
    Lansing Resident - $35.00
    Non-Resident     - $40.00

  • HEARTSAVER CPR IN SCHOOLS:
    A course designed in conjunction with the school system to teach Middle and High School students skills in CPR and the relief of choking in adults, children and infants.
    Cost of class:
    based on the size of the class and materials.

  • HEARTSAVER AED:
    (Automated External Defibrillator): This course is designed for the Lay Rescuer and the First Responder who wish to learn CPR and the use of an AED.
    Cost of class:
    Lansing Resident - $35.00
    Non-Resident     - $40.00

  • BLS FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS:
    This course is for Healthcare professionals who work in a wide variety of settings, which include in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. It is designed to teach the skills of CPR, the use of an AED, and the relief of foreign body airway obstruction. A card is given after course completion.
    Cost of class:
    Lansing Resident - $35.00
    Non-Resident     - $40.00

  • HEARTSAVER FIRST AID:
    The latest course to be added, was developed to meet a widespread request for an AHA course that integrates training in first aid, CPR and the use of an AED.
     Cost of class:
    Lansing Resident - $35.00
    Non-Resident     - $40.00
