In 2007 the Lansing Police Department took over the teaching of the D.A.R.E. program from the Cook County Sheriff Police.

D.A.R.E. is a police officer led series of classroom sessions that teaches local 5th Grade students how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence free lives.
