Clerk Patty Eidam
Lansing Village Flag

In February of 2008 Lansing Village Trustee, Patty Eidam, approached the Mayor and her fellow Village Board members with a plan to create a Village of Lansing Flag.

At the time Patty was also Vice President of the Lansing Historical Society.  The Society was prepared to run a contest for all citizens of Lansing for a flag design.

On February 19, 2009 the Village Board voted to authorize the Lansing Historical Society to move forward with a contest to create a flag for our Village.

The Historical Society Board of Directors narrowed the design entries to five and the Village Board made the final decision.  Bradley Borys submitted the winning entry.  Brad is a retired Lansing Police Officer.

Brad designed the flag to represent Lansing’s rich history.

The red, white and blue panels represent our nation.  The three stars represent the three original districts that came together to form incorporated Lansing in 1893.  The three districts were Oak Glen, on the west side of Lansing, Bernice on the north end of Lansing and Lansing proper.  The sand color of the stars represents the sandy ridge that Ridge Road was built on in the early 1800’s.

The Village Flag was officially raised, by Brad Borys, for the first time at the dedication of the new Lansing Municipal Center on April 4, 2009.
